For his 20th anniversary as Autoclav1.1, Tony Young presents 10 new tracks harking back to rare, albeit fond memories, from his childhood in the early 1980’s.
As a departure from previous works aurally, "Diamondbackviper" is a purely electronic, emotive affair, which is as expressive as it is vibrant, full of colour and purpose. Playful synth patterns toy with subtle complexities and hooks, and whilst the song titles may be vague to the listener; this is ultimately, a deep and personal journey.
From summers past, gazing through the window of his local cycle shop, dreaming of the bike he would never possess; to warm sunny afternoons sat on the grass in the local graveyard with friends, eating his favourite ice cream. Watching his favourite TV presenter with his Grandfather on Saturday afternoons, to late night horror sat on his own. Playing in the woods and pathways to his local park with friends, avoiding as best he could, going home; there is hidden sadness amongst the narrative.
Childhood passes in the blink of an eye, and for some, apart from a few brief moments in time, it is sometimes for the best.
